Coach Rachyl was born and raised along the Emerald Coast in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, where her faith, love and family has also grown. She grew up in and around water and learned the importance of water safety at a young age.

Rachyl attended Belhaven University in Jackson MS on a soccer and academic scholarship where she earned her BA in Business Administration. It is also where she met her amazing husband and not too long after graduating, missed the beaches and small-town home along the Emerald Coast enough to move back.

She and her husband discussed the importance of not just water safety, but water survival lessons for their son, as living along the Emerald Coast demands a respect for water safety. Her parent’s home also had a backyard pool and is where her son would spend most of his time while she and her husband were at work. They decided to enroll their son in the Swim Life program when he was 6 months old and were
amazed with the results and skills that he developed through the program.

After seeing the growth and confidence that her son had gained with his established skills through Swim Life, Rachyl felt God calling her towards a different career path and purpose. She felt drawn to contribute to drowning prevention and to make a difference in the drowning statistics along the Emerald Coast. As the doors began to open for her, she took hold of the opportunity to become certified as a Swim Life Instructor.

Rachyl and her family love to go to the beach, paddleboarding, and go for family swims in the grandparent’s pool - and can now do so with more peace of mind knowing that their son has the established skills to survive in an aquatic emergency!
