Margaret Pitrone
Yokosuka, Japan
Coach Margaret was born in New York and moved to Pennsylvania when she was young. She always swam, both at home and on swim teams. As an adult, she swam for fitness. In 2007, she married a Sailor and moved to Okinawa for the first time. Both Margaret and her husband fell in love with Okinawa and the beautiful oceans there. They spent as much time as possible swimming and snorkeling.
They were able to return to Okinawa in 2019, this time with 2 young children. Margaret experienced how hard it is to teach your own children to swim. Her children participated in the Swim Life program, and became excellent swimming and snorkeling companions.
Margaret was offered the opportunity to train as a Stroke Development Coach, and she jumped at it. She has spent the last 3 years teaching children ages 5 and up, as well as adults, to swim. She specializes in getting very basic swimmers to a point where they are doing laps up and down the pool with perfect technique, from kicks, to arms, to breath, making swim team, passing swim qualifications and swimming for fitness.
Margaret and her family PCS’d to Yokosuka in October 2023. She is very excited to get Swim Life started here, and she can’t wait to see you at the pool!
